The Dangling Conversation

from Carnegie Stacks by Millaze

/

about

idk I always felt that Paul Simon's dangling conversation was a little too cynical. yeah I get it, it's poetic, I'm not saying I think it's bad - but come on, it's a little cynical.

lyrics

lyrics:

We’re in a room
I’m in a room with you
Reading the news
I’m in a room with you
And we do not speak
Reading poetry
You think I didn’t see
The way you looked at me
And I know you respect
The clout of the unsaid
But when you’re ready to talk about it
Know I am, too

And you watch her cross the room
Set the needle down and turn to you

She’s breaking silence
Seeing through the chemical and calling out the violence
Running out of neon for this sign so you could find it
Hearing what we want, but maybe this time let’s align it

She’s breaking silence
Seeing through the chemical and calling out the violence
Running out of neon for this sign so you could find it
And she won’t hide it anymore
This dangling conversation is a bore
Kinda wanna see what I didn’t see before

And you watch her cross the room
Set the needle down and turn to you

She’s breaking silence
Seeing through the chemical and calling out the violence
Running out of neon for this sign so you could find it
Oh, hearing what we want, but maybe this time let’s align it

She’s breaking silence
Seeing through the chemical and calling out the violence
Running out of neon for this sign so you could find it
And she can’t hide it anymore
This dangling conversation is a bore
What do you think this record’s for

What do you think this record’s for
Set the needle down and turn to you
She’s breaking silence
We’re in a room
She’s breaking silence

We’re in a room
I’m in a room with you
Reading the news
I’m in a room with you
And we do not speak
Reading poetry
You think I didn’t see
The way you looked at me
And I know you respect
The clout of the unsaid
But when you’re ready to talk about it
Know I am, too
Know I am, too
Know I am, too

And you watch her cross the room
Set the needle down and turn to you
