Thanksgiving 2018 in Pittsburgh i was sick all day, but pushing through with adrenaline. when i laid down to sleep, the adrenaline slipped away, and i was left with chills and aches and a fever, it sucked hard. the wine i'd had with dinner made me scared to take ibuprofen for the pain - so i tried to force myself to sleep. but i was so anxious. i'd been dealing with insomnia for a few years by that point. so i gave up trying to force my body to do anything: i made a deal, I said "fine, body, i'ma let you do what you need to do." this turned into one of the most spiritual experiences of my life. i laid in the dark in my childhood bed, watching twin peaks on my phone, and observed the sickness shooting to different areas of my body, rising up, and then finally flushing totally out. I dozed in and out, and then the fever was gone. once i finally just let my body take over, it only took 2 hours. i wrote this song the next day.
